  1. Where are you from?
    Brazil.
  2. How long have you been in the USA?
    2 years.
  3. What do you feel — where is your home now? Or what is your home now?
I feel like my home is still in Brazil, in the city where I was living before coming to the US. Even though I built a life here, I miss my culture, family, friends, and the weather.
  4. What helps you feel at home in a new place?                                       Building connections with other people is the most important thing for me to call a place my home.
  5. Has your sense of home changed over time? What does “home” mean to you now, after moving to a new country?                                                           It became clear to me that the sense of home relies on culture and      connections with other people.
  6. Who or what makes you feel like you belong somewhere? Why? For example: Parents? Friends? Culture or language? Nature? Or maybe something else?                                                                                                         All of the above — friends, family, nature, and language.
  7. Do you think it’s possible to have more than one home? Why or why not?                                                                                                                           Yes, definitely! If you manage to build strong connections to people and culture in more than one place.
  8. What advice would you give to someone who is trying to feel at home in a new country?                                                                                                       Find people you can connect with and keep them close.
  9. “How do you say ‘home’ in your native language (using English letters)?                                                                                                                      Lar.
