1. Where are you from?

From Russia, Moscow

2. How long have you been in the USA?

Amost 3.5 years, since Feb 2022

3. What do you feel — where is your home now? Or what is your home now?

Idk, after talking to my family and friends, I feel like the country I left has changed so significantly that I don’t feel it home anymore, so I’d say that my home is where me, my wife and our cat are.

4. If you feel that the USA has become your home, how long did it take to feel that way? Did you do anything to help make it feel like home, or did the feeling come naturally over time?

We were separated with my wife for a year, so I’d say I started to feel the US as a home when we reunited here.

5. What helps you feel at home in a new place?

Redesiging the interior of new apartments the way I like it.

6. Has your sense of home changed over time? What does “home” mean to you now, after moving to a new country?

I can’t really say that it changed significantly. No matter what country I live in. Ref. Question [3].

7. Who or what makes you feel like you belong somewhere? Why? For example: Parents? Friends? Culture or language? Nature? Or maybe something else?

Having buddies and family in proximity. And probably the history of the place so that you can develop some connection with it.

8. Do you think it’s possible to have more than one home? Why or why not?

Definitely. I personally would like to have “home” in two/three countries later.

9. What advice would you give to someone who is trying to feel at home in a new country?

Don’t fully focus on the carrier and try to make new friends.

10. How do you say “home” in your native language (using English letters)?

Syschevalnya😆 (ok, just “dom” works too:))
